AI/ML initiatives in the financial sector are often beset by difficulties, including the handling of large, complex datasets and scale-up, which hinder widespread acceptance. Open source adoption can and foster AI/ML utilization in the finance sector.

This presentation will examine several use cases where open source adoption has allowed companies to benefit from the large sets and varying types of data available in fintech applications (e.g. model risk management and market impact analysis) and to mitigate inefficiencies encountered when programming APIs. This presentation will also provide practical tips for fintech companies embarking on open source adoption including (i) identifying candidate code for open sourcing, (ii) developing a licensing and compliance strategy, and (iii) establishing standardized policies and processes for implementing an open source program.
