Data breaches are common in the Internet, compromising our identity. Luckily, Blockchain allows to create digital identity that is secure and hard to break into. In addition, it puts the users in control of their personal data in the chain. This tutorial showcases a healthcare blockchain using Hyperledger Fabric framework with patients, providers, hospitals and insurance companies as the participants. The chain stores identifying information and basic insurance information about a patient. The chain interfaces with an external Electronic Health Records (EHR) system to exchange detail health data. As per the smart contract established among the participants, at the consent of the patient, appropriate information about patient health records can be shared with the Physician or Hospital, thus maintaining data ownership, privacy and security intact.
